Baby steps

So, last night with le Parisien was great.  Real great.

We met after his evening college class (some kind of advanced math slash programming thing, yep, he's clever) and went for a drink at the Freedj

The Freedj is a funny bar, busy every night of the week, and with a nice mix of customers.  It also has a quiet seating area right round the back that no-one seems to use - dark, moodily lit, comfortable seats....what more does a second date need?

So we chatted and chatted.  We like the same films, the same cheesy TV series, the same books.  We chatted about our friends, our families.  He told me all about his bad back (not a high point, but hey, it's worth noting).

And then we came back to mine.  Sorry to disappoint those of you who said 'wait', but hey, there was action.  Serious action.

And it was all great.

Be.  Still.  My.  Beating.  Heart.

You know what I mean?

So, he's just gone off to work and I'm packing to go to the UK for a few days.  We made plans to see each other 'when I get back'.  Lord knows, I don't want to go.

Anyway, maybe it's a big thing, maybe it's a pleasant interlude.  I refuse to worry about my potential future broken heart.  Well, maybe just a little, eh?  I'm only human.

For the moment, I'm enjoying it.

But how to proceed?  With caution, I guess.

Reader, I'm taking baby steps.

Serious mid-week action rocks!

So happy for you mate, sounds like you couldn't have had a better 2nd date! :)

As a matter of interest, do you ever tell people you date about your blog?

Very excited for you, Travelling! It's good to have a breather now to let him know what he's missing for a couple of days.

Lola, never too late! but I'm glad I didn't take it, he he

Elf, it truly does rock! And, no,I never tell them...in fact the only people who know me and my blog are people that I've met through this blog. And some corkers they've turned out to be!

Good to hear the date went so well! Sounds like you have a lot in common. :)

Enjoy those butterflies in your stomach and racing heart; even though it can be nerve wrecking, those first few weeks/months are so much fun!

And hey, if you really miss him while you're away and he really misses you, at least you know you're on the right track! (it happened to me and my boyfriend too, I was in Malta for 10 days without a telephone signal, and he was away in England. Getting back together afterwards was absolute bliss)

I can't stress these words enough: happy, comfortable, ease, natural, unencumbered, no tension. As long as it's these things, it's a good thing. Very happy for you!

First, I can NOT believe you fucked on date deux!! Oh well , worse things have happened I'm sure.

However, don't get all sorority girl now and follow him around just because he used you sexually. :-) go to England. Text him or email him ONCE. Unless he eagerly texts or emails back. Then you can send another.

Just don't leave him 30 voicemails and text messages and shit. Trust me.

Greg a dit…

Good for you! And yes, baby steps are the way to go. DOn't rush into things, claiming him as a boyfriend; you're still in dating mode.

aims a dit…

Cb is giving good advice there TBNIL. Oh! You might have to change your name!

Here's a suggestion - and I wasn't even going to give you one I was just going to read what everyone else said .....

Learn how to give GOOD back massages. If he has a bad back he'll absolutely adore you for it. Believe me - there is nothing worse!

wontletlifedefineme a dit…

Following up on what aims just said, Lush has some wonderful massage bars that melt at body temperature. No hassle with oil everywhere etc., and they smell really nice too. :)

Yet again, I say to you all, I LOVE YOU. And more importantly (channeling Sally Field).....

"You love me. You really love me!"

Must go and clean up this mascara now.

red a dit…

wahey!

man, i wish i was witty.

12ontheinside a dit…

Awesome. But really, we all said be yourself too... and it sounds like you were ;)

travelling, but not in love a dit…

Red, why be witty when you can be pretty? I wish I was both (like I'm sure you are...).

12oti, why would I ever choose to something else? ha ha

tornwordo a dit…

Yay, good for you! Action on the second date is a very good sign....

Red keeps mentioning how funny youy blog is and I was like, ok, got to read this guy, got to read this guy. So today I did. And what do I find out ? That it is really funny AND that you're falling for someone. Are you going to be boring from now on or should I come back?

travelling, but not in love a dit…

Poser, we can still be the dream team sugar...just don't tell the boy, ha ha!

Major, hey! happpy to see you here. Red has always shown such impeccable taste, ha ha. Trust me, things won't be getting boring anyday soon...I hope! Keep on coming back!

Louise a dit…

I hope it's all as good as it seems. But yes, you need to go. Too much time with a person gets old fast. If not for him, then for you. At least at the beginning.

I'm a little giddy for you. And not worry about your potential broken heart (much?) either.

travelling, but not in love a dit…

Louise, I'm lurching between giddiness and pure fear. Awful. But lovely too...
